Who’s that jumping onto the game? While the cover spot on the WWE2K video games is a major coup for any wrestler, another big achievement is to be announced as special character available if someone pre-orders the game. Over the last few years a string of all time greats and Hall of Famers have been included in this spot and this year’s name is no exception. While he isn’t a current member of the WWE roster, he’s certainly a major name and someone who made a pretty high profile appearance earlier this year.

Maybe not a big guy, but a big name.

Rey Mysterio is coming back to WWE 2K19

As seen in the video above, this week on Monday Night Raw, Rey Mysterio was announced as the new special pre-order character for the upcoming WWE2K19 video game. Mysterio last appeared for WWE two months ago at the Greatest Royal Rumble, as well as earlier this year at the Royal Rumble. While he is currently not under contract with the company, he is trying to get back into the fold. At the moment, there is no suggestion that this new announcement means Mysterio has re-signed with the company.

This was on Raw. You know what else was on Raw? All of this.

Opinion: I’m a pretty big Mysterio fan so this was a nice surprise. I don’t play the games, but it would nice to see Mysterio make one last run. Mysterio is 43 years old and has a long history of injuries, but I would be rather pleased to see him get one more run with the company, probably leading to a Hall of Fame induction. He’s a multiple time World Champion and it would be a big deal to see him get back into the top promotion in the world. Even if it’s just a short run, let’s see what he can still do and have him get some young stars over.
