The final push. Takeover: Stand & Deliver is going to be one of the biggest Takeovers in history, if nothing else just for the amount of time that the show is going to receive. This edition of the show will be the first to be held over two nights, meaning that it is going to need a pair of main events. We know what those two are going to be and one of them got a big push after this week’s show.

The main event of the first night of Takeover Stand & Deliver will feature NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai defending the title against Raquel Gonzalez. Shirai has held the title for about ten months now and has run out of other challengers to face, hence her challenging Gonzalez to the title match. This might be a bad idea and we might have seen why during this week’s NXT.

González’s message for Shirai after NXT goes off the air: WWE Network Exclusive, March 31, 2021

WWE has posted a new video from after this week’s edition of NXT went off the air. In the video, Gonzalez attacked Shirai’s friend Zoey Stark and promised to do the same to Shirai once Gonzalez got her hands on her. She also said that she could not wait to defeat Shirai and take the Women’s Title. Gonzalez had already defeated Stark in a match earlier in the night.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could have fit in rather well on the show itself, as Gonzalez destroying Stark is the kind of thing that makes her seem like even more of a monster. You do not get enough of that most of the time and it worked well in this situation. Gonzalez is a major threat to Shirai’s title and it would not surprise me to see her leave with the championship.
