It’s so simple. There are all kinds of ways to end a match and some of them are less clean than others. Every so often you will see a match end in a way that is designed to draw out some interest for the future. That appeared to be the case with a title match this week as the show went off the air, but the problem was solved rather quickly with the cameras still rolling.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Special Night: Full NXT Results For December 24 (SPOILERS)
The main event of this week’s NXT saw Trick Williams defending the NXT Title against Eddy Thorpe. The match ended with a double pin, with a different referee counting the fall for the other. General Manager Ava was confused to end the show. However, WWE has uploaded a clip from after the show, with Ava announcing that the match is officially a draw, meaning Williams retains the title.

Opinion: This is a bit of an odd way to go, as the ending seemed designed to set up a cliffhanger for next week but then they just wrapped it up a few minutes later. Odds are this is going to lead to something else down the line, but for now the whole story is already wrapped up. It’s just a weird way to go but for now, we are waiting to see where everyone gets to go.
