That’s a special one. There are all kinds of awards and accomplishments that can be won during a wrestler’s career, but it is rare to see anything that acknowledges their entire career. A championship reign usually only looks at a small portion of their career, as the title reign will end one day. It means a lot to see someone’s entire career recognized and that is the case again.
Over the weekend at Knockouts Knockdown, Impact Wrestling announced that Awesome Kong will be inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame at Bound For Glory on October 23. Christy Hemme returned to announce the induction, with Kong appearing and dedicating her induction to Daffney, who passed away last month. Kong wrestled for Impact Wrestling in multiple stints, where she is a two time Knockouts Champion and a one time Knockouts Tag Team Champion. She also worked in Japan, Ring of Honor, AEW and briefly in WWE before announcing her retirement in August of this year.
This was a special moment. Check out the announcement plus some of Kong’s time in Impact Wrestling:
Opinion: This is one of those inductions that makes all the sense in the world and something that certainly fits perfectly. Kong was a force in Impact Wrestling at a time where the company made some amazing strides in women’s wrestling. Kong really was one of a kind and got to showcase just how good she was in a variety of places. This is well deserved and I’m glad to see it happen.
What do you think of the induction? What was Kong’s best moment in wrestling? Let us know in the comments below.
