They’re here. There are certain wrestlers who are associated with specific locations and that will be the case long after their time in the ring is over. As a result, those wrestlers are going to show up in those places many times over the course of their lives, including after their careers end. That was the case again this week, with several stars making a variety of surprise appearances.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In: AEW Officially Signs Former WWE World Champion
This week’s NXT took place at the 2300 Arena, formerly known as the ECW Arena, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show featured a variety of former ECW stars appearing on the show, though there were multiple surprise appearances as well. This included D-Von Dudley, who helped Bubba Ray Dudley and Trick Williams put Ethan Page through a table, as well as Rhyno, who Gored Robert Stone for insulting the Philadelphia crowds. Finally, Francine appeared in the crowd to wave to the fans. Dawn Marie, Rob Van Dam, the FBI and Bubba Ray Dudley appeared on the show after being advertised in advance.
It was a special night. Check out some of the guest stars:
Opinion: Well they certainly went all in with the ECW idea and that is certainly a way for the show to go. The fans in that building were going to cheer for ECW and WWE leaned into the idea the whole way. That made for a better show, though it is something that could only work once in awhile as doing something similar more than once can cause quite the diminishing returns.
