WATCH: Monday Night Raw Star Invades NXT, Brawls With Rhea Ripley

They’re doing it again. In recent months, WWE has been attempting to expand its NXT audience by bringing a variety of main roster stars to the show. This has resulted in the audiences growing, as fans seem interested in seeing the stars of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. It can result in various wrestlers showing up unexpectedly, including to advance main roster storylines. That was the case again this week with a big surprise.

This week’s edition of NXT featured a mixed tag match between Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio and the team of Dragon Lee and Lyra Valkyria. Late in the match, Monday Night Raw’s Raquel Rodriguez appeared and attacked Ripley, brawling with her into the back. This comes the day after a World Women’s Title match between the two was announced for Payback.

Opinion: This is one of those ideas that is so simple but it still works well. NXT is viewed as the minor league show so having the bigger stars showing up on the show makes it feel that much better. Rodriguez vs. Ripley has been a hot feud in recent weeks and it makes sense that Rodriguez would want more revenge. NXT has been doing this more and more in recent weeks and if nothing else, it gives fans a sense that they have to watch just to see who shows up. It’s something that works and thankfully WWE understands that.
