WATCH: Former NFL Player Signs With WWE, Makes Debut In Backstage Segment

He’s new. There are all kinds of athletes in professional wrestling and many of them have backgrounds in other sports. You will occasionally see someone pop up from another athletic endeavor and shine in wrestling, but the track record is far from perfect. Now though another athlete is trying his hand at wrestling and he comes from a spot with a nice success rate.

According to Bobby Shouse of the Dive Bar podcast, former Miami Dolphin Trill Williams has signed with NXT and made his debut this week on NXT TV. Williams appeared in a backstage segment involving Dion Lennox and Ashante Thee Adonis but he was not mentioned by name or featured. There is no word on when Williams will be formally introduced or when he could make his in-ring debut.

Opinion: This is one of those things where you never know what you are going to get from this far out but Williams has at least started. Getting to show his face on camera so soon is already a good start and I’m curious to see where it goes. If nothing else, there is something to be said about a former NFL player getting his chance to show what he can do in a different sport.
