WATCH: Former Intercontinental Champion Wrestles First Televised Match In Nine Years

It’s been awhile. Wrestlers come and go all the time and it can be interesting to see what happens to them after their heyday is over. You might not see someone in the ring for years on end but that does not mean they are retired. Sometimes they will come back up in another role which can lead to a return to the ring, which was the situation again last week.

Last week on Impact Wrestling, Santino Marella lost a match to Dirty Dango. This match marked Marella’s first match on American television in over nine years, with his most recent TV match taking place on June 16, 2014. Marella has wrestled on some pay per view and streaming events since then and has been the Director Of Authority in Impact Wrestling since January.

Marella has been a player in Impact Wrestling. Check out some of his time there:

Opinion: This is one of those things that kind of sneaks up on your. Marella is someone who played a pretty well known role during his time in WWE but he has been away from the ring for such a long time. It brings about some nice nostalgia to have him back, which is probably Impact Wrestling’s main goal. Marella is still a name and it makes sense to put him in the ring again.
