WATCH: Dominik Mysterio Makes Surprise SmackDown Appearance, Attacks His Father Again

Family affair. There are several wrestling families throughout the industry and some of them have spanned multiple generations. It can be a big deal when those generations get to work together and it is often more interesting when they wind up fighting each other. That was the case last year and now WWE is teasing a return to that feud after some time apart.

This week on SmackDown, Rey Mysterio faced Santos Escobar in a match several months in the making. Late in the match, a masked man appeared and distracted Mysterio, leading to Escobar picking up the win. The mask was removed, revealing it to be Mysterio’s son Dominik. The two feuded last year but have not interacted with each other in several months.

This could go a few ways. Check out the moment, plus their history:

Opinion: This is the kind of story that can go a long way and the idea of reheating it is not the worst move. Rey and Dominik have a built in story and their feud last year was rather entertaining. I could see it happening again with Dominik coming out on top this time, which should make for a good moment if that is the direction WWE is taking. It’s a bit of an odd choice, but this is where we seem to be going.
