WATCH: Cody Rhodes' Major Announcement From NXT

It suits him. There have been all kinds of wrestling families over the years and some of them are known by one name alone. It can be a big deal when a member of those families show up again, as you never know when you might see the next generation breaking through. One such family is well represented today, and now he has gotten to make a major announcement.

Cody Rhodes made a special appearance this week on NXT to make an announcement. During the show, Rhodes announced the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, a regular tag team tournament run in NXT. The tournament is held in honor of Rhodes’ father Dusty Rhodes, who was a mentor in NXT’s early days. The tournament will begin following the conclusion of the Women’s Breakout Tournament. No teams have been announced.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that suits Cody well and it’s nice to have something back from the company’s past. Cody is the perfect choice to make the announcement and I’m curious to see how it goes. The previous editions have gone rather well and hopefully they can keep that streak going in the future. For now though, I’ll settle for the hype, which should be enough to start.
