He won’t be pleased. There are all kinds of ways to wrap up a major match and some of them are designed to set up another math down the line. This can lead to some rather intense moments, especially if the fans are emotionally invested in a match. That is what we saw at a special show over the weekend, as the fans had a major moment taken away from them.

Over the weekend, WWE held a live event in Rosemont, Illinois, featuring a main event of CM Punk challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship in a steel cage. The match saw Punk ready to win but Dominik Mysterio slammed the door on his head to make the save. Ultimately, Gunther went on to retain the title. This comes after Punk saved Damian Priest from a Judgment Day attack earlier in the week at Madison Square Garden.

This didn’t go well. Check out the interference and Punk and Mysterio in WWE:

Opinion: This is the kind of a finish to a match that you do not see very often but it worked out well here. What matters the most is that Gunther gets to retain the title while keeping heat on Mysterio. Punk vs. Mysterio could be quite the match if built up in the proper way, while saving Punk vs. Gunther for a major showdown on a much bigger show. The fans certainly seemed interested in what they were seeing and that’s a good sign.
