He’s done. Retirement is a tricky situation in wrestling as there are so many wrestlers who will attempt to retire, only to come back to the ring not that long later. That is what we are going to be seeing from a top star and now we know more about it.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Call It: Big Update On WWE’s Broadcast Team Changes

Over the weekend, Bryan Danielson won the AEW World Title by defeating Swerve Strickland in the main event of All In. This week on Dynamite, Danielson spoke about his future as a wrestler, saying that he needed neck surgery and that his family wanted him at home more often. Danielson said that when he lost the title, he would be stepping away from the ring full time. Jack Perry then jumped Danielson, suggesting that he will be the first challenger.

Danielson is a bit different. Check out his announcement plus what he has been doing:

Opinion: This is a story that has been done before but it does a nice job of adding some drama to what we are seeing. Danielson is one of the most beloved stars of modern wrestling and the idea that we will be seeing him go away for a long time if he loses makes things all the more interesting. Hopefully it works as well as it can, as the potential is absolutely there.

What do you think of the idea? Who should be Danielson’s final opponent? Let us know in the comments below.
