WATCH: Bret Hart On Wrestlers Who Would Not Pass Him The Torch And Someone Who Did

He did it differently. There have been several different eras throughout WWE’s history and some of them have rather obvious and notable starting points. You can see when something happens that is going to lead to something else down the road and a big win is often a trigger. Now though, a legend is talking about some people he does not think helped move anything forward.

Bret Hart was the subject of the most recent edition of WWE’s Most Wanted Hidden Treasures and spoke about his match with Roddy Piper at WrestleMania 8. Hart said that he felt Piper passed him the torch and helped pull him up to the next level. However, Hart went on to say that “Jake Roberts never did that. Hulk Hogan never did that. Ultimate Warrior never did that.” Instead, Hart said that they “stuck it in the ground, and it was all about them”. Hart would never face any of the three in a singles match in WWE.

Opinion: I can get what Hart is saying here and at the end of the day, he very well might be right. Hart was going to be the next big star but the names he mentioned did not have much to do with it. There are people who helped get him to that level though, including Piper and Ric Flair. It could have been interesting to see what the others could have done, but Hart wound up doing rather well on his own.
