It’s worthy of some bonus footage. There are a lot of things that you can count on in wrestling and that can make for some interesting moments. Above all else though, titles are the thing that drives wrestling stories more than anything else. They can make for some special moments and when someone ends a long title reign, the new champion can be a big deal. That was certainly the case on Wednesday.

Earlier this week on NXT, Rhea Ripley defeated Shayna Baszler to end Baszler’s over year long reign as NXT Women’s Champion. The win was a long time coming as Ripley had showed up in NXT earlier this year and took it by storm. As the inaugural NXT UK Women’s Champion, Ripley was no stranger to gold, but this one was a big step up. WWE certainly seems to know this as well.

WWE has posted a new video after Ripley won the title, showing her backstage after the title win. Ripley talks about what the win means to her and what she plans to do next. Also included are comments from people close to her and a few NXT personalities. There is no word on when Ripley will defend her title for the first time or what will happen to Baszler from here on.

It’s a cool concept. Check out the post win reaction, plus the win itself:

Rhea Ripley celebrates with the NXT Universe: NXT Exclusive, Dec. 18, 2019

Opinion: This really was one of the coolest moments that I’ve seen from NXT in a long time. They know how to do the big moments very well and that is what they did when Ripley won the title. Baszler had been built up as such an unstoppable champion that having someone finally beat her was the moment that they were shooting for. It was a great victory to end a great match and that was exactly the point.

What did you think of Ripley’s title win? Who will take the title from her? Let us know in the comments below.
