Maybe not? Wrestling is a complicated sport as it is not only an athletic presentation taking place in front of a live crowd with no chance for a redo, but it is also attempted to be viewed as “real” while being planned in advance. This has led to a variety of issues over the years when wrestlers are confronted over the reality of the industry, which was the case again this week before a major show.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One More: WWE Adds Another Title Match To Elimination Chamber Card
Austin Theory is in Australia this week to promote this weekend’s Elimination Chamber event. According to the West Australian, Theory got into an argument with the newspaper’s editor in chief Anthony De Ceglie over whether wrestling was real or not. De Ceglie said that the wrestlers are not actually hitting each other, with Theory calling De Ceglie out for his disrespect. However, it should be noted that the article cites a staffer named “Kay Fabe”, suggesting that the altercation may have been staged.
This was quite the moment. Check out the altercation plus Waller in action:
Opinion: What matters here is people are talking about the upcoming event, which is easier said than done. I’m not sure how much of a boost this is going to give the event but I’ll take it over another standard interview that we’ve heard a hundred times. If nothing else, this was memorable for a change and maybe we can get something better out of the show as a result.
