WATCH: AEW's Shawn Spears Explains His Absence In Emotional Speech

That’s a good reason. AEW has a very deep roster with all kinds of stars up and down the ranks. There are several benefits to having that kind of talent but there are also issues that come up. One of the problems is that if someone is gone for any length of time, they can be forgotten in a hurry. That might have been the case with one of the company’s stars, but he has given a very good reason.

Shawn Spears returned to AEW TV this week after missing five months. Following this week’s Rampage main event, where Spears got the pin, Spears addressed the crowd, announcing that he had missed time due to the death of his mother. However, on Mother’s Day, Spears was able to tell her that he and his wife would be having a baby boy. Spears went on to thank the crowd for showing up and promised that AEW would be back.

Opinion: That is one of those things that you cannot fake and you could hear the emotion in Spears’ voice as he told his story. Spears missing time due to his mother passing away is perfectly understandable and it is nice to have AEW give him the time off. It is good to have Spears back too and I could go with seeing him around more often, especially in this kind of style for a change.
