He’s back? Retirement in wrestling works very differently than in other sports, as wrestlers can come back to the ring in a one off match at almost any given time despite not wrestling in years. That can make for some very special moments, especially if a former prominent star makes an appearance out of nowhere. We had that situation over the weekend as a former WWE Superstar returned to the ring.

Former WWE Superstar Spike Dudley returned to the ring over the weekend, facing Leon St. Giovanni at a LIVE Pro Wrestling event in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Other unnamed wrestlers are involved in the match and it is not clear who won. Prior to this, Dudley’s most recent recorded match took place on December 20, 2015. There is no word on if Dudley, 53, plans to wrestle again in the future.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can be quite the thrill for the fans as they get to see someone they remember in a low pressure situation. Dudley gets to return to the ring for a one off (or maybe more) and seemed to look pretty good. The whole thing seemed like a lot of fun and that is exactly what something like this should have been, especially on this kind of stage.
