They Want Him: WWE, AEW, More Reportedly Set For Bidding War Over 30 Year Old Former World Champion

They’re all in. There are all kinds of wrestling promotions throughout the world and several of them have some incredible stars under its banner. It can be a big deal when one of those stars becomes available on the free agent market as there can be quite the frenzy to sign someone. That is going to be the case again soon and now another promotion has jumped into the fray.

In early 2024, Will Ospreay’s current New Japan Pro Wrestling contract will expire, making him a free agent. According to Fightful Select, as of two months ago, AEW was seen as the front runner to sign Ospreay. However, WWE is now said to be showing “heavy interest” in Ospreay and the two sides have had discussions. In addition, Impact Wrestling and New Japan are both interested in signing Ospreay as well. There is no word on when Ospreay will make his decision.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could make things more interesting going forward, as Ospreay is the kind of star who could make an impact anywhere he goes. Ospreay is going to sign somewhere in the coming months and that promotion is going to get a very nice upgrade (or a renewal of one in New Japan’s case). There are some very interesting possibilities out there though and now we will get to see where that is going.
