I’m afraid we’ve got some good news. If you’re a fan of independent wrestling, there’s a good chance that you’ve heard of What Culture Pro Wrestling (WCPW). The promotion was started as an offshoot of Whatculture.com and has featured some top names such as Kurt Angle, Cody Rhodes, Rey Mysterio and Alberto El Patron. Now though, there’s going to be another big name appearing on a regular basis.

As announced on its Twitter page, Stu Bennett, better known as Wade/Bad News Barrett, will be debuting as the new General Manager on Monday’s “Refuse to Lose” pay per view. In addition to this, the promotion will also be rebranding as Defiant Wrestling due to some issues with some of the bigger names leaving Whatculture.com.

Back when Barrett was quite the brawler.

Opinion: The more Barrett is around, the better things are for wrestling. He was an incredibly talented performer and someone who could have been a much bigger deal in WWE had it not been for some rather questionable booking choices. I’m not sure how well Defiant Wrestling is going to do but having a name like Barrett helps a lot.

What did you think of Barrett’s time in WWE? Do you think he’ll be in a major promotion again? Let us know in the comments below.
