McMahon is having a good time. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way the wrestling world works. It is one of the biggest issues that the world has seen in a long time and it is going to be a good while before anything is really back to normal. That is the kind of thing that no one could plan for and it isn’t the kind of thing anyone should be happy about. However, one person in wrestling has done quite well since the situation began.
While the Coronavirus pandemic has been the biggest story of the year, it had an offshoot story in the wrestling world. Back in April, dozens of wrestlers were released from the company over the changes to its financial status. This came after WWE announced they had hundreds of millions of dollars on hand to make it through the pandemic and before they sent out a stock dividend to their stockholders. One such stockholder has certainly reaped the benefits.
According to the Middletown (Connecticut) Press, Vince McMahon’s personal fortune has increased by $177 million over the last three months, putting his worth at $1.977 billion. During that time, WWE stock has risen by over $10 a share, with McMahon being the largest stockholder in the company. WWE stock hit its lowest point in over a year in mid March but has since risen back up.
He can afford it. Check out some of McMahon’s better moments:
Opinion: I know this isn’t going to sit well with a lot of fans and that is understandable given the circumstances around the country at the moment. However, the firings did not likely have a lot to do with the stock value going up, as the stock was so far down when the pandemic started. It is good to see the value increase, but there are going to be a lot of fans understandably annoyed at seeing something like this take place when they are struggling financially at the same time.
