He can decide. Extreme Rules has come and gone and more than one match had a controversial ending. That is the kind of thing that is going to be talked about more than almost anything else that happens on any given wrestling show. The endings are what matter most because they keep things moving. That was the case with one major match, and we are going to be seeing it again.

One of the more controversial endings to a match at Extreme Rules saw Sasha Banks pin Raw Women’s Champion Asuka after Asuka sprayed the referee with green mist, allowing Bayley to attack Asuka and put on the referee’s shirt to count the pin. Banks left with the title and claimed to be the champion, but it was not quite that simple. It turns out that Vince McMahon was behind the decision, and for a logical reason.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the original ending to the match called for Asuka to defeat Banks clean to retain the title. However, McMahon changed the ending to what wound up happening, allowing a rematch to be set up in the future. The rematch was officially announced on the following Monday Night Raw, with the second title match taking place on July 27.

It was a big decision. Check out how we got here:

Opinion: It makes sense, but at the same time it is a little annoying to use a pay per view match to set up a television match. That being said, Banks vs. Asuka was a good match in the first place and it would make for a big time main event next week. WWE television needs all the boosts that it can get and this might work as well as anything else. I would say things can’t get much worse, but that has long since been proven wrong.
