So that’s how she got the job. Earlier this week, Renee Young was announced as the new commentator for Monday Night Raw, making her the first woman to hold the position full time in the show’s twenty five year history. Young has been with the WWE for about six years now, and over that time she has held a variety of roles. However, no matter how high she has gotten, she had to start somewhere and that’s where we are today.
She really can sell anything.
As part of their Hidden Gems collection on the WWE Network, WWE has released Young’s 2012 audition tape. The full version is available on the WWE Network but a slightly shortened version. The video features Young being given an unidentified object and being told to sell it to the audience. Young does make a slight blunder in the middle of the speech, which runs for about a minute and a half.
Opinion: Seeing things like this makes me wonder how many things WWE actually has in the vault. Of course there’s all kinds of things that aired on TV at some point but this kind of never before seen backstage stuff is absolutely fascinating. Can you imagine how many things they have recorded from way back in the day that might be all kinds of amazing? This might not be some incredible video, but it’s cool to see this stuff from outside of the ring for the first time.
