So much for loyalty. Legends are a tricky concept in wrestling and there are several ways to use them in the wrestling world. One of the most common is to have them become a mentor for a younger star, which opens up a lot of different options. That is something NXT has been doing in recent weeks, and the story took quite the turn during this week’s television show.
This week’s edition of NXT featured the fallout from Takeover: In Your House, where LA Knight defeated Cameron Grimes to become the new Million Dollar Champion. During this week’s show, Knight was officially presented the title by DiBiase, with Knight talking about how much DiBiase meant to him. However, Knight then said that he had everything he needed and attacked DiBiase, with Grimes making the save. There is no word on how long DiBiase will be sticking around NXT.
It has been a pretty intense feud. Check out how we got here:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that both makes sense and keeps the feud going. What matters here is the rise of Grimes, who has gone from little more than a comedy goof to someone who has gotten a lot of fan support behind him in a short amount of time. Grimes has all of the charisma in the world and something like this could be exactly what he needs to become a bigger star. Knight is looking all the more evil now too, as both guys receive a nice boost in a hurry.
