When worlds collide. The wrestling world has changed quite a bit thanks to the rise of AEW. The new promotion has shaken up the industry by adding a new place for all kinds of wrestlers to showcase themselves. That has not been the case for a very long time now and several wrestlers have already jumped over to the new place. A wrestler from both companies came together for a pretty unique moment.
WWE’s John Cena and AEW’s Miro were both in attendance for the premiere of The Suicide Squad. Cena, a co-star of the movie, appeared in the full costume of his Peacekeeper character, hugged Miro and introduced him to his wife. The two chatted for a few moments about something that could not be heard. Cena returned to WWE last month at Money in the Bank and Miro, the reigning AEW TNT Champion, debuted with the company in September 2020.
Miro and Cena had a long feud in WWE, with Miro defeating Cena in a United States Title match at Fastlane 2015. Cena came back to win the rematch at WrestleMania 31 to win the title in a match where Miro famously road to the ring in a tank with his wife Lana. The two had several matches against each other over the years, including a flag match at Battleground 2017.
This was pretty cool. Check out the meeting and some of their time together in WWE:
Opinion: This was a nice moment with seemingly two friends getting together for a quick meeting. Cena and Miro are both very talented at what they do and Cena being on the red carpet in his character’s costume made it even better. Miro is on fire in AEW at the same time and it could be great to see how far he can go there. Either way, at least he got to do something cool with Cena here.
