They had to do something. There have been a lot of stories taking place throughout WWE this year and some of them have been a lot more interesting than others. This can be both a good and a bad thing, as sometimes you get a story that just does not work as well as another. Sometimes there is a chance to fix them and WWE is trying to do just that in another situation.
One of the more prominent storylines of the year has been Retribution. After months of short attacks, the team revealed itself in full, including with Mustafa Ali as its leader. The team started off slowly but has gradually stepped things up, even winning a few matches in a row. One of the interesting details has been the reveal that Ali was the SmackDown hacker from earlier in the year. Now the two stories are being tied together.
This could be interesting. Check out what Retribution has done now:
A video has been released on the WWE Twitter account showing Retribution stealing a laptop from a WWE production worker. As a result, Retribution has taken over the officially WWE Twitter account. Around the same time, Ali posted a tweet to his own Twitter account saying that he was now in control. It is not clear what WWE is planning to do with this in the future, if they do anything whatsoever.

Opinion: This is something that could be interesting, though I’m not sure I believe that WWE will actually follow through on it in any meaningful way. It seems pretty clear that we are far beyond the point where Retribution is going to mean anything significant in WWE and while it is nice to have some hope, I’m not sure how wise it would be to believe it is anything more than false hope.
What do you think of the idea? What is next for Retribution? Let us know in the comments below.
