Nice to meet you. There are a lot of talented wrestles on the AEW roster but that does not mean they can stop expanding. With so many people around, wrestlers are going to be fighting for roster spots and television time. Occasionally someone new gets added to the mix and things get a little more complicated than they were just a day or two before. That is the case again this week.

One of AEW’s signature matches is the Casino Battle Royal. There are twenty one entrants in the match and the first twenty all come out in groups of five at a time. The twenty first entrant is deemed the Joker and comes out last. This has sometimes been a surprise entrant and someone that has not appeared in the company before. That was the case with the latest edition.

Saturday night at All Out, Matt Sydal, formerly known as Evan Bourne in WWE, made his AEW debut as the Joker in the Casino Battle Royal. Sydal made his entrance and immediately attempted his shooting star press, only to slip and fall in a hard landing. After being down for a few moments, Sydal got up and was able to continue the match. There is no word on if Sydal will be appearing with the company full time.

Sydal’s entrance was a big one. Check out his AEW debut and misstep:

Opinion: This is an interesting one as Sydal was not exactly someone showing up on a lot of fans’ radar. Sydal has experience in big companies and has been successful, but he is not quite the biggest name in wrestling. I won’t call him a bad choice by any means, but given some of the names who have become free agents in the last few months, this was a rather surprising choice.

What do you think of Sydal? What should he do in AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
