That’s just not nice. Over the course of the year, there have been very few WWE stars as controversial as Shane McMahon. While he does have his fans, a large amount of the audience has not been impressed with the amount of time that McMahon has been given on WWE TV. Kevin Owens seems to agree and has called McMahon out over the situation. The story took a turn on Tuesday.

This week on SmackDown Live, McMahon entered himself into the semifinals of the King of the Ring tournament against Chad Gable. McMahon named Owens as guest referee and suggested that Owens’ $100,000 fine would be rescinded if he helped McMahon win. Gable defeated McMahon in the match, leading to McMahon attacking and firing Owens to end the show.

It came after quite the performance. Check out Gable vs. McMahon and the post match incident:

Opinion: I’m sure this will lead to Owens having to grovel before McMahon again as WWE does everything they can to make sure that Owens stops getting as over as he did. In other words, we have to make sure that McMahon stays strong, likely setting up a rematch in the Cell in October, as having the two of them face off in the match once before just wasn’t enough for some reason.
