They deserve it. Every now and then, you see a wrestling match that is special. There is something about it that strikes a cord in the fans and you know that you are seeing something that is going to stand the test of time because it really was that good. It might be a mixture of quality, effort and just being different, but something about it worked so well. That was the case this week and now the wrestlers are getting the recognition that they deserve.
The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured Thunder Rosa defeating Britt Baker in an anything goes Lights Out match, which basically meant hardcore. The two women beat the fire out of each other with both women bleeding until Rosa won with a Fire Thunder Driver through a table off of the apron. It was an amazing match and now we get to see how it was immediately received.
I’d say they earned it. Check out the match and the reaction reaction to the match:
AEW has released a video looking at the immediate aftermath of the match. The video AEW President Tony Khan speaking to the women as they receive medical treatment following the match. The two women also went backstage and received a standing ovation from the locker room. Rosa also spoke about what the win meant to her and women’s wrestling as a whole.
Opinion: I completely understand how a lot of people are going to be upset by the violence, especially the blood given the current situation, but I loved every bit of this match. It felt like two people in a violent struggle to beat the other and that is not something that you get very often. This match deserved the praise it is receiving and the video made me smile as both women earned it.
