That’s never a good thing to hear. There is always a chance of injury in wrestling and there is no way around that. It is a violent sport by definition and someone could always get hurt doing just about anything. Then to make it worse, there are wrestlers who work a much more violent and intense style. That kind of style can come back to haunt you and that may be the case with one of the more popular AEW stars.

There are very few names in AEW who have become an overnight sensation like Darby Allin. A virtual unknown before he came into the company, Allin has become one of their best homegrown stars and gets some strong reactions every time he appears on television. Allin wrestles a rather hard hitting style though and that style might have caught up with him, at least for the short term.

Allin posted two tweets on Thursday, saying that he had been hospitalized after the main event of this week’s Dynamite. Allin took part in the main event of the show, where he faced Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara in a handicap match. During the match, Allin’s suicide dive was cut off with a Judas Effect elbow to the face, which required him to go to the hospital. There is no word on how long Allin will be out of action or if he will miss any ring time.

It was a nasty landing. Check out what put Allin on the shelf, plus what happened after he went down:

Opinion: That’s not the biggest surprise in the world but what matters the most is how long it takes for Allin to get back in the ring. He really has become one of the best things about AEW and I never would have believed that to be possible when he first debuted. There is something about Allin that draws people in though and AEW is smart to keep featuring him. Hopefully this isn’t too bad though, as it would be a big loss to have him on the shelf.
