You knew this was going to get mocked. The Coronavirus has changed almost everything about the way the wrestling world works. The industry has been rocked by the changes and now it is not clear what is going to happen in the future. WWE is one of the few companies allowed to continue running their events, mainly due to a certain status which has not been the most well received.

Earlier this month, WWE was deemed an essential business by the state of Florida due to the company being part of the entertainment industry which is filmed in Florida. This announcement was met with some negative feedback as no one is entirely sure what is essential about the company continuing to operate. This status has earned them some mockery, and it was on display again this week.

I think this one speaks for itself. Check out how the move was accepted on Tuesday (the WWE section begins at 2:00):

Conan O’Brien mentioned the WWE being deemed an essential business during his Conan show on Tuesday. The segment involved a look at WWE continuing under their new status with a voiceover joking about how wrestlers were important in fighting Coronavirus. Some WWE clips were included, as well as an unidentified independent match. WWE has continued to run events at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida and will be doing so for the foreseeable future.

Opinion: WWE had to know something like this was coming. At the end of the day, how can you not be laughed at when you’re deemed an essential company whose shows take place in front of no fans with a dwindling television audience? It comes off as a bit ridiculous and I can’t say I’m surprised at this whatsoever. I don’t think WWE is going to care that much though, and that’s what matters most.

What did you think of the video? How long will this work for WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
