Get it? Back in 1999, the WWF was on fire and the hottest wrestling company anyone had ever seen. They had taken the Monday Night Wars by the throat and were destroying anything that came near them. With this newfound interest, it was time to crank up the advertising and what better way to do that than by advertising during the Super Bowl. The company released an ad during Super Bowl XXXIII featuring the company’s top stars talking about the company while wrecking havoc at Titan Towers. That sounds worthy of a closer look.

WWE has released a behind the scenes video, looking at the production of the commercial. This video hasn’t been seen in nearly twenty years and features a look at how the commercial was made, including some of the director’s instructions and how some of the stunts were done. Various wrestlers have comments and a slightly edited version of the commercial itself is included. Here’s the video:

Behind the scenes of WWE's infamous Super Bowl ad

Opinion: I remember this from the original airing and it’s still one of the coolest things the company has ever done. Just being on the air during the Super Bowl is impressive enough but the ad worked very well, showing how different the promotion had become. The company hit its highest peaks later that year and it wouldn’t be surprising if this commercial had a lot to do with it.

Do you remember this commercial? Is it something WWE should do again? Let us know in the comments below.
