It comes with the territory. Wrestling is a unique world in that the people involved are celebrities, but they are rarely going to be seen as anything other than wrestlers. That puts them in quite the small bubble and they rarely break out of such a small area. They do appear on various media platforms, and one such appearance did not end so well for a top NXT star.
On July 8, Adam Cole lost the NXT Title to Keith Lee in a major showdown. The loss ended Cole’s record setting year plus long reign, leaving his future up in the air. With almost nothing left to accomplish in NXT, it would seem that the main roster is his next target, but there are always questions about his size. That question was put to him again and it did not get the best reaction.
Cole was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show, during which McAfee, who has worked with WWE in the past, mentioned his size. As a result, Cole erupted and turned over his microphone stand, screamed at McAfee about his accomplishments in NXT and left the interview. Later, McAfee shared some direct messages he had with Cole which set up the interview. McAfee’s producer Ty Schmit, who Cole shoved, commented on it as well.
Hindsight is always 20/20 but I obviously regret this DM.
I thought a convo between us could’ve been good content #ForTheShow but instead it ended in the most insane way imaginable
He broke a mic, a headset, pushed @tyschmit, & stormed out of our office.

minutes now trying to figure out what the hell just happened. I obviously never mean to disrespect anybody but, fuck that guy. There’s no way that’s how an ADULT human should act.
I pride our show on being a positive, good time having, upbeat show & he will never be invited back— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) July 23, 2020
Surprise surprise, @AdamColePro is a fucking scumbag. Acts like a child, breaks a mic, breaks a headset, sprays a litany of F bombs disrespecting @PatMcAfeeShow, shoves me, then storms out of the studio and leaves before anyone here can address it. Classic punk tendencies.

There is a lot to the show. Check out the full show, with Cole appearing at about 1:58:00 and the incident, as shown below, beginning at around 2:07:00, plus some of Cole’s time as NXT Champion:
Opinion: I don’t think it’s much of a secret that this was probably staged and there is nothing wrong with that. I’m not sure what we are going to be seeing from this, but Cole losing his edge since he lost the title could be an interesting way to go. At this point I’m not sure if he should be going up to the main roster, but this is certainly a different path for him to take.
