That could mean something. One of the more interesting topics in recent weeks in WWE has been the company taking control of its wrestlers’ Twitch accounts. WWE has instituted a new policy saying that they will own the accounts, which the wrestlers will still use and receive most of the money that previously went to the wrestlers. This has not gone well and now we could be in for a very big next step.

On Friday, a major development in the situation took place as Zelina Vega was released from the company. Vega has been one of the most prominent voices against the policy and after learning that she was going to be released, sent out a tweet saying that she supports unionization. Forming a union has long been seen as a possible solution for the wrestlers, and now they might have someone new on their side.

After Vega was released, the President of SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), Gabrielle Carteris, responded to Vega’s tweet, telling Vega to email her about the situation. This also comes after former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang has made several tweets about challenging WWE’s classification of wrestlers as independent contractors. There is no word on any interaction between wrestlers and SAG-AFTRA so far.

A partnership with the union could be interesting. Check out some other successful partnerships:

Opinion: The Twitch situation has the potential to blow up in a big way and that could be a major problem for WWE. I’m not sure what it would mean for the company, the wrestlers or the fans, but I can’t imagine that things would be going all that well for WWE. We are reaching the point where something has to give and if it means getting the wrestlers into a union of some kind, things are going to change in a hurry.

What do you expect from the situation? What happens if the wrestlers unionize? Let us know in the comments below.
