Uh-oh. One of the cooler stories of the last few weeks was the split of DIY with Tommaso Ciampa turning on partner Johnny Gargano after their loss at “Takeover: Chicago”. The two seemed to be primed for a huge feud against each other but there was one big issue. Two nights before the split, Ciampa had injured his leg at a house show. It turns out that things might be worse than expected.

According to PWInsider.com by way of Wrestlinginc.com, Ciamps’s injury might actually be a torn ACL. While the initial injury wasn’t seen as that severe, Ciampa made it even worse during the ladder match against the Authors of Pain. Ciampa is set to undergo surgery and could miss several months as a result.

Opinion: Dang it not now. Ciampa’s heel turn was one of the best things NXT has done in a long time and it’s a shame that it could be derailed by something like this. The leg injury didn’t seem that bad at first but having him in a ladder match just forty eight hours later probably wasn’t the smartest idea. Hopefully things aren’t as bad as they seem and he’ll be back sooner rather than much later.
