That looks to be it. Earlier this weekend, Ring of Honor presented its annual Final Battle event, but this year’s version is quite different. The show is the final event before Ring of Honor goes into a hiatus until April. It is not clear what the future holds for the promotion, but now we know a few more things about what is up next and it is not exactly the most positive.
According to Fightful Select, Final Battle was seen as more of a “goodbye” event rather than a “see you in April” among the wrestlers. Several of them were taking pictures with each other and talking to former Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin. The promotion is scheduled to return in April over WrestleMania weekend with SuperCard of Honor, but no more details have been released.
It was a busy night. Check out the build to last night’s show, the first hour, and the better parts:
Opinion: This is something you almost had to see coming, as Ring of Honor does not seem to have the brightest future. I do believe that they will come back with something in April, but the question is what that will look like. Ultimately, Ring of Honor as it has been is probably gone, and I’m not sure what is going to be put there in its place. That could be interesting, and not necessarily in a good way.
