Can you blame people for thinking? WrestleMania, at least in the modern sense, is built around the concept of dream matches. There are all kinds of matches that can be put together, given the deep roster that WWE has. When you add in legends, things can get even easier as they can work with just about anyone. One such match may have been teased, but how possible was it?

Back in November, CM Punk made a surprise return to WWE programming after a five and a half year absence. The return took a lot of people by surprise but also made people wonder if he would ever return to the ring. With WrestleMania not too far away, those thoughts cranked up even more. However, there comes a point where the two sides have to come to an agreement and that wasn’t so simple.

According to PWInsider.com, there were never any official discussions between Punk and WWE about a match or even an appearance at WrestleMania. Rollins had even hinted at the match online but there was never any movement towards the match taking place. Punk’s contract is with FOX rather than WWE, meaning that WWE has no control or influence over what he does.

They have done it before. Check out Punk vs. Rollins in the past:

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised by this one as Punk has never indicated that he was going to return to the ring. He has been out of the ring for over six years now and there is a real chance that he will never wrestle again. Rollins may have just been trying to get some attention and there is nothing wrong with that, but the idea of Punk getting back in the ring does not seem to be a possibility anytime soon.
