There’s more to it than that. WWE has a lot of people wrestling for them and that means they have a lot of wrestlers to juggle up and down on their rosters. Somehow they have to find a way to get a lot of them in the ring, which has proven to be a lot more difficult than expected. One way to do that is to find a concept that features multiple wrestlers at once, which WWE is ready to do next week.

This week on Monday Night Raw, WWE announced the return of the King of the Ring tournament for the first time since 2015. Since the initial announcement, some more details have been announced. The tournament will feature sixteen wrestlers with eight each from Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live, with the first round beginning next week on Monday Night Raw. During this week’s show, a video aired about the tournament, featuring sixteen photos of what will likely be this year’s field. Here they are in order of airing in the video:

Elias
The Miz
Kevin Owens
Chad Gable
Andrade
Shelton Benjamin
Buddy Murphy
Ricochet
Cedric Alexander
Drew McIntyre
Cesaro
Baron Corbin
Sami Zayn
Ali
Apollo Crews
Samoa Joe

Opinion: This could be a very good thing for WWE as they have a lot of people on the roster with nothing to do. This will give a lot of them at least one match and maybe they can make a new star with the winner of the tournament. It’s something you can only do every so often and the field, assuming it doesn’t change, has a lot of potential stars included. They need something to do so going this way could work well.
