It has to happen eventually. There may never be another legend like the Undertaker. He has been in the WWE for almost thirty years and has accomplished almost everything of note. This includes World Titles, a Royal Rumble victory, and a little thing known as the Streak. You could cut his career into four parts and have four Hall of Fame resumes, but as is the case with everyone else, it has to come to an end.
Over the last few years, it has become clear that Undertaker is not the performer that he once was. The Undertaker is fifty five years old and the injuries and miles on his body have taken severe tolls. The fact that he is still going now is remarkable, and in the twilight of his career, we are starting to learn more about the man behind the gimmick. This includes how he wants to see his career wrap up.
Undertaker recently spoke with People.com to promote his documentary series on the WWE Network. During the interview, he talked about how he wants to leave WWE, saying that Undertaker isn’t a character who would come out and give a formal retirement speech. He described wanting the John Elway or Peyton Manning ending, meaning going out on top. Undertaker wants to have one more great match to prove that he still has it and then walk away.
Undertaker has had some moments of his own. Check out some of his big ones:
Opinion: Can you blame Undertaker for wanting to go out this way? Undertaker is someone who has a history of great matches and it is understandable that he has an idea in mind for how he wants to finish his career. It’s the kind of finish that you don’t get to see very often and hopefully he gets to have that match that he has wanted. I’m not sure when that will be, but it’s going to be a big deal when it finally happens.
