It’s coming. The biggest wrestling story in a very long time broke this week as Endeavor announced it had purchased WWE, which will merge with the UFC into a new company. That is the kind of thing that is going to cause a lot of changes throughout every company involved, and now it seems that one of the higher ups in Endeavor is hinting at how those changes will be going.

Endeavor COO Mark Shapiro was interviewed by Puck.com and spoke about the merger. Shapiro said that there would be areas throughout the companies that would find “cost synergies” and places that could integrate and “appoint the best and brightest teams”. According to Wrestlingnews.co, this could mean layoffs behind the scenes in WWE. There is no word on any potential releases of wrestlers or on-screen personalities.

WWE has let people go before. Check out some of the instances over the years:

Opinion: This is something that you almost had to know was coming as Endeavor wasn’t going to keep the same amount of people under one roof when some of them can do the same jobs. Hopefully there aren’t too many layoffs and people losing their jobs, but it seems that at least some of them are going to take place no matter what. The future of the wrestlers will be determined, but this suggests at least some big changes coming.
