They need to go big. WWE presents a variety of major events throughout the course of the year and most of them require the fans to pay to see them. However, they will occasionally present such a show for free, which will often include some rather high level action. That is what we might be seeing later this year, and now we have an idea of what could be taking place on the card.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On The Card: Major Grudge Match Set For WWE Crown Jewel, Triple H Himself Makes It Official
WWE has announced that Saturday Night’s Main Event will be returning for the first time in over sixteen years on December 14. While there are no matches currently announced, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE is at least considering two title matches for the show, though neither is officially set so far. The two matches would see Cody Rhodes defending the WWE Title against Kevin Owens and Gunther defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest. Both matches have been teased in recent weeks.
They have a lot to live up to. Check out some classic Saturday Night’s Main Event:
Opinion: This is a good sign for the show, as there is little reason to get interested in the card if WWE isn’t putting in the effort. These matches would certainly feel pay per view worthy and that is more than WWE would do with the last reincarnation of the show. I’m curious to see what they do, but if this is the way they’re going, I’m a lot more hopeful about it than I was.
