Double time? Last month, WWE changed things up (again) with the annual Superstar Shakeup. The two night event sends various stars to different shows to, as you might have guessed, shake things up a little bit. It makes things more interesting and offers a fresh starts after WrestleMania season wraps up. Now though, it seems that we might be in for another one sooner rather than later.
According to Joe Peisich on Barnburner Radio, WWE may be doing another Shakeup this fall, just before the SmackDown Live move over to FOX. The move, which takes place on October 4, would see some of the biggest stars in the company move over to SmackDown Live as a way to beef up the ratings on the new network. There is no word on the date, but Monday Night Raw’s season premiere in September is a possibility.
Things changed a lot this year. Check out a look back at the moves:
Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised, but it isn’t going to matter if the deeper changes aren’t addressed. The problem for the shows’ ratings isn’t so much who is appearing but rather what they’re doing. If FOX wants to present WWE as a major sport, having champions lose all the time and people like Baron Corbin being presented as big time stars isn’t going to cut it. Fix those things and these switches won’t be as necessary.
