It would have been special. There are very few wrestlers who have reached the same level as the Rock. In addition to being one of the biggest movie stars in the world, the Rock is also one of the top stars in the history of wrestling. Every so often, the Rock will show up again for a special appearance in WWE, but now another wrestling legend is claiming that he tried to get the Rock for his retirement match.

Keiji Muto, better known as the Great Muta, wrestled the final match of his career on February 21 in a losing effort. During an interview with Marc Raimondi, Muto revealed that he tried to get the Rock for his final match but said, while smiling, that Rock was “too expensive”. Muto also said that Rock told him the People’s Elbow was a mimic of Muto’s power drive elbow. Muto jokingly asked for royalties over the move.
I asked Muto about the report he was trying to get The Rock as his last match. He nodded and said, in English with a smile, "too expensive." Muto is still not sure why WWE chose to induct him since he never stepped in a WWE ring before. Muto: "I was like, 'What? Really? Why me?'"

Muto on why The Rock:
I met him before two or three times. He actually admitted that his People's Elbow was a mimic of my move. So I asked him for royalties. But we were joking and he didn't pay anything, but we really had a good conversation.— Marc Raimondi (@marcraimondi) March 23, 2023
There is some great talent here. Check out the two in action:
Opinion: This is a situation where the phrase “while smiling” makes a lot of sense. I could imagine Muto asking Rock to show up for the match but there was no way to make it work. What matters is that Muto got to close out his career as he wanted with a big event. Muto is one of the most talented stars of his generation and it would have been sad to see him go out in any other way.
