That’s quite the honor. Thanks to the internet, there is more wrestling coverage available than most people know what to do with. That is quite the change from the old days, when magazines were about all you could find. Some of them are still around today and a few of them have quite the prestige. Now a modern champion has earned an honor for the second time in his career.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated has revealed that Kenny Omega has topped their annual PWI 500 for 2020-2021. The list ranks the top 500 male wrestlers from July 2020 – June 2021, taking into account a mixture of different criteria, including success, championships and level of competition among others. This is Omega’s second time earning the honor, following his 2018 win. The rest of the list has yet to be revealed.

Omega has been a star. Check out what he has done over the last year:

Kenny Omega's Stunning New Entrance - Who Moved on in the Tournament AEW Dynamite, 10/21/20

Jon Moxley's AEW Championship Run Comes to a Shocking End | AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming, 12/2/20

Did Penta El Zero Miedo or Kenny Omega Move Into the Finals? | AEW Dynamite, 10/28/20

Opinion: I’m curious to see how these rankings go, as while Omega has been good, there is a heck of an argument to be made for Roman Reigns. Omega is hardly a bad choice though and would be #2 on the list at worst. The PWI 500 is still quite the honor and pretty easily the biggest magazine award in the wrestling world today. Omega is a worthy choice and I’m curious to see what he does next.

How has Omega’s year been? Who would be your #1? Let us know in the comments below.
