He’s done. While WWE and AEW get most of the attention in the wrestling world, there are several other promotions, some of which have been around for a very long time. Those promotions have some incredibly talented people working for them, including some whose main work takes place behind the scenes. However, one of the bigger names is now out of work.

Anthem Sports & Entertainment, TNA Wrestling’s parent company, has announced via 411mania.com that President Scott D’Amore has been terminated from his contract with the company. Anthem’s Anthony Cicione has replaced D’Amore in the role. There was no official reason given for D’Amore’s departure. According to PWInsider.com, a talent meeting was held to discuss D’Amore, which was described as “stepping down” in the meeting but “termination” in the official announcement.
One of the wrestlers said that this “wasn’t the way to start off” as D’Amore was popular in the locker room. Wrestlers were said to be angry, with veterans having to calm things down. The majority of the company’s creative team is still present, though it is not clear who will take D’Amore’s place. One wrestler is said to believe that Anthem made the change due to TNA feeling too “D’Amore centric” rather than focused on Anthem, though this was not stated during the meeting. Several wrestlers, including some no longer with TNA, have commented on his departure:
Thank you coach.

The incredibly painstaking, tedious and difficult work that @ScottDAmore has put in to bring @ThisIsTNA to this very exciting moment in time, cannot be understated. We all, wrestlers and fans alike, owe him a debt of gratitude. ?

I'm just going to say it. Without @ScottDAmore Impact/TNA would be a video library probably owned by WWE. I saw him strip that thing down to the studs and rebuild it on a less than skeleton budget to where it stands today which is ready to take off. Hope it survives-Massive loss!

Not all people in leadership roles are leaders. @ScottDAmore was a leader.
Honoured to have been led by him.
Thank you for everything.

D’Amore had his moments in TNA. Check out what he has done in the company:
Opinion: As weird as it sounds, I’m almost hoping that there is some kind of a scandal, if nothing else for the sake of explaining why D’Amore was let go. D’Amore led TNA from the joke of the wrestling world to a completely respectable promotion. I would hope there is more to it than this, as D’Amore is someone who deserves some praise for what he has done. Unless there is a reason or he just does not want to, there is no reason for D’Amore to remain unemployed for more than a few days at most, as he’s that good.
What do you think of the move? Where will D’Amore land? Let us know in the comments below.
