And that’s how it ends. Title changes can be some of the most important things in all of wrestling as you never know when someone is going to become a champion for the first time. The way a title is lost means a lot as well and some instances can go better than others. That might have been the case this week, as a record long title reign came to an end in a different way.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Improvement: Injury Update On AEW Star Following Five Month Absence

This week on AEW Dynamite, Samoa Joe defeated Keith Lee to retain the Ring Of Honor Television Title. Following the match, Joe announced that he was vacating the title to focus on winning the AEW World Title. Vacating the title ends Joe’s title reign at a record 574 days, a record he broke a week ago. There is no word on how the next champion will be crowned.

This was a big deal. Check out the title reign in action:

Opinion: That is a weird way to end a title reign as Joe has been the champion for about a year and a half now. While he is going after the AEW World Title, there would seem to be a better way to get the title off of him. I would assume that he didn’t drop it earlier for the sake of the record, though that seems to be a bit more damaging to the future champion than anything else.

What do you think of the title being vacated? Who should be the next champion? Let us know in the comments below.
