They need to hurry. WWE is doing some very different things as of late and it has kept them rather busy. This includes the full on Summerslam weekend and have moved into the Thunderdome. However, due to the way their schedule is being set up, this week’s Monday Night Raw is the fallout from Summerslam, the show’s debut in the Thunderdome and the go home show for Payback, which is taking place a week after Summerslam. That means they need to set something up and that has already started.
One thing that WWE has been needing to do is bring some talent up the ladder. You can only have the same wrestlers on top of the card for so long and at some point someone needs to be built up. One of the names that WWE has done this with is Apollo Crews, who has been the United States Champion for the last three months. That reign may end at Payback as the title will be on the line.
WWE.com has announced that Crews will defend his United States Title against Bobby Lashley at Payback. This comes after Crews defeated Lashley’s Hurt Business stablemate MVP at Summerslam. Lashley and Shelton Benjamin were barred from ringside but chased Crews off after winning the match. Crews has been feuding with the Hurt Business for several months.
Crews has become a bigger deal since winning the title. Check out what he has been doing as of late:
Opinion: This has felt like the conclusion to the Crews vs. Hurt Business feud since the beginning as Lashley is as much of a final boss as you can get. I’m curious to see where this goes, as Crews winning could put him in the clear for a long time. That could go a long way to giving him a rather deep title reign, but it wouldn’t exactly be shocking to see Lashley run through him and win the title.
What do you expect from the match? How much has the title reign helped Crews? Let us know in the comments below.
