Title Change Takes Place At WWE United Kingdom Tournament Special

Home country advantage can do you a lot of good. On Monday and Tuesday of this week, WWE was in England for the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament special shows, which also included the announcement of the NXT UK brand. In addition to the tournament matches, there were also a few matches for NXT championships. Just like the first WrestleMania, something big had to happen to make the show feel historic, and that something would be a title change.

And it’s already been shown.

Moustache Mountain win the NXT Tag Team Titles: WWE Exclusive, June 19, 2018

On the second night of the Championship Tournament specials, Moustache Mountain, comprised of Trent Seven and Tyler Bate, defeated the Undisputed Era to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions. Bate and Seven have teamed together for several years now and have held a variety of Tag Team Titles, including the Revolution Pro Wrestling Tag Team Titles, the Chikara Campeones de Parejas and the Progress Tag Team Titles. The match will air in full next week on the WWE Network.

Opinion: That’s quite the surprise and there’s nothing wrong with that. Bate and Seven are a very fun team and even if this is a short run title reign, at least they’ve gotten it in the first place. Odds are this doesn’t last long if there is going to be a UK version of the NXT Tag Team Titles, so maybe the Undisputed Era gets the belts right back. Either way, it’s going to be fun to see the crazy reaction from the UK crowd, which is often a major highlight.
