There’s a reason for that. WWE has hyped up the first week of the year with a variety of big time shows. All three of their main television shows had special names and were promoted with major cards. This week’s NXT was nicknamed New Year’s Evil and was scheduled to be headlined by an NXT Title match between champion Ilja Dragunov and Trick Williams. However, the match did not take place as Dragunov was deemed unable to compete. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dragunov was “worn down” and needed “a little bit of a break”, with the match being postponed as a result. It is not clear when the match will take place.

Dragunov is pretty awesome when he is at full strength. Check out what he can do:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that happens every so often and while it is disappointing, it makes sense to pull the plug on the match and let things breathe a bit. At the end of the day, Dragunov vs. Williams could be a heck of a showdown, with the match taking place at next month’s Vengeance Day being a real option. Now just find a good way for it to work and everything should be fine.
