That was close. One of the most continuing issues in WWE in recent months has been the contract statuses of various wrestlers. Earlier this year, Damian Priest announced that he had signed a new multi year contract with WWE. According to Fightful Select, the deal was signed “a couple of months ago”, just before Priest won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 on April 7. The original deal was set to expire in February and was only days from expiring. There was never any doubt that WWE wanted to keep Priest, with the details only having to be worked out.

Opinion: This is one of the more interesting things that WWE has been doing as of late and I’m not sure I understand why. Endeavor seems happy with allowing wrestlers’ deals to coming very close to expiring instead of getting them locked in for a long time. What do you think of the way the deal was signed? Who will take the title from Priest? Let us know in the comments below.
