They weren’t interested? There are all kinds of matches presented on a WWE event but some of them are more important than others. You can often see the more prominent matches on a card with just a glance as they are often the most prestigious matches on the show. Occasionally they do not appear in the top spots though and that resulted in an interesting way this week.

Earlier this week, WWE presented its annual post Christmas live event in Madison Square Garden in New York City. One of the biggest matches on the card saw CM Punk wrestle his first WWE match in nearly ten years, defeating Dominik Mysterio. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer heard that “a surprising number of fans” left after Punk’s match and did not stay for Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Cody Rhodes or the main event of Seth Rollins defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre.

Opinion: That isn’t something I would have expected, as while Punk was arguably the biggest attraction on the card, there were some big names left to go as a result. If nothing else, it shows how big of a deal it was to have Punk return to a WWE ring. While it might be a little more difficult to find a way to keep that momentum going, WWE is doing well with it right now and they should keep it going as long as they can.
